L2 GOLF OPS / SERVICES
You’ve got a golf course to run. Let’s get that project done.
From technology and reporting to websites and operational improvements, L2 helps independent golf courses tackle the projects that never seem to make it to the top of the list.
HELP WHERE YOU ACTUALLY NEED IT
Not every course needs another employee. Sometimes you just need an extra hand.
When you’re managing a smaller golf course, there’s rarely a shortage of things that need attention.
Maybe you’ve been meaning to dig into your tee sheet reporting. Maybe a system isn’t working as well as it should. Maybe your website needs an overhaul, or you’ve got a process that takes twice as long as it needs to.
That’s the kind of work I started L2 Golf Ops to help with.
Some courses need a fresh set of eyes. Others know exactly what needs to be fixed but don’t have the time to do it. Either way, we’ll figure out a useful starting point and keep the scope realistic.
01 / GET CLARITY
Operations Review
Sometimes you know something needs to change, but you’re not sure where to start.
Maybe you’ve inherited a system that nobody really understands, you’re spending too much time on certain tasks, or you’d simply like another experienced golf operator to take a look at how things are working.
I’ll work with you to review the areas we’ve agreed on, understand what’s happening today, and identify practical opportunities to improve.
You’ll leave with prioritized recommendations and a clearer idea of what makes sense to tackle next.
Areas we can review
- Tee sheet and POS workflows
- Operational reporting and business metrics
- Membership processes and administration
- Staff workflows and recurring tasks
- Website and digital operations
- Technology and vendor systems
A good fit when: You want to figure out what’s worth improving before investing time or money in a bigger project.
02 / GET IT DONE
Operations & Technology Projects
This is for the project you already know needs to happen, but never seem to have enough time to finish.
Rather than handing you a list of things to do, L2 can help take a defined project from planning through implementation and handoff.
That might involve researching options, working with a vendor, configuring a system, improving a workflow, or building something your operation has been missing.
We’ll agree on the outcome up front and work toward something your staff can actually use.
Example projects
- Tee sheet or POS system configuration improvements
- Reporting dashboards and operational spreadsheets
- Website improvements and online membership pages
- Technology implementation and vendor coordination
- Membership and league administration workflows
- Process documentation and staff training materials
A good fit when: You have a specific improvement or project that needs to get across the finish line.
03 / KEEP MOVING
Fractional Operations Partner
Maybe it’s not just one project. Maybe you’ve got ongoing work that needs attention but doesn’t justify adding another full-time employee.
This is where L2 can provide ongoing support within a clearly defined scope.
Instead of starting from scratch every time something comes up, we’ll establish agreed responsibilities, communication expectations, and priorities.
Most ongoing work would be handled remotely, with scheduled onsite visits when the project calls for them.
The goal is consistent progress without creating another management position or an open-ended consulting arrangement.
Potential ongoing support
- Recurring performance reporting
- Business systems maintenance and improvement projects
- Website and digital information updates
- Scheduled technology coordination
- Membership process support
- Follow-through on agreed operational priorities
A good fit when: Your facility needs consistent help with agreed operational and technology responsibilities, but not another full-time manager.
04 / CONNECT THE PIECES
Business Operations & Technology Support
Golf course operations and technology don’t always fit neatly into separate boxes.
Your tee sheet affects reporting. Your membership process affects your website and POS. Even course maintenance schedules can affect how you manage play. Your staff needs systems that work when the clubhouse gets busy.
Sometimes solving one problem means coordinating several different pieces.
L2 can help organize a broader improvement effort that crosses multiple workflows, systems, or vendors.
We start by identifying the connections, then define the specific work, priorities, and responsibilities before implementation begins.
Where this can help
- Coordinating connected operations and technology projects
- Membership sales, website, and POS processes
- Reporting across multiple business systems
- Technology changes involving multiple vendors
- Operational workflows that connect clubhouse and grounds teams
- Planning and implementing phased business improvements
A good fit when: The project involves multiple systems, people, or processes and needs a coordinated plan rather than another disconnected fix.
EXPERIENCE FROM THE CLUBHOUSE AND THE COURSE
I understand how the whole golf operation fits together.
I’m Chris McMillan, founder of L2 Golf Ops and the current general manager of Columbus Country Club in Wisconsin.
My experience isn’t limited to the golf shop. I’ve worked hands-on as a member of a golf course grounds crew. Alongside my current GM role, I’ve also taken on many responsibilities typically handled by a superintendent.
That means working through irrigation issues, coordinating maintenance priorities, supporting grounds staff, and making decisions that affect course conditions, while also managing tee sheets, staffing, events, reporting, and business systems.
Before moving into golf management, I spent more than a decade working in IT. That combination helps me see how the clubhouse, maintenance operation, technology, and business decisions affect one another.
L2 isn’t about taking over your operation or telling you how to run your course. It’s about understanding the whole picture and helping you get important operations and technology projects done.
CLEAR EXPECTATIONS
We’ll figure out the right scope before anything starts.
I don’t expect every golf course to need the same thing. That’s why engagements are built around the actual work and a realistic outcome.
A defined project
We’ll agree on the problem, deliverables, responsibilities, and what success should look like.
A realistic timeline
We’ll set expectations around scheduling, onsite needs, communication, and timing before work begins.
A useful handoff
The objective is to leave your facility with an improvement your team can understand and continue using.
What L2 isn’t
L2 provides scheduled, defined-scope operations and technology support. It is not a replacement GM, daily staffing service, emergency IT provider, or unlimited on-call resource. Projects, deliverables, and fees are agreed upon in advance.
LET’S TALK GOLF
What’s the project you keep putting off?
Whether it’s something you’ve been meaning to fix for months or a new idea you’re trying to figure out, I’d be happy to hear about it.
Tell me a little about your golf course and what you’re trying to accomplish. We’ll start with a conversation and see if L2 is a good fit.
